3 magnums of Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 stored in reserves at The Wine Society.

Ridge’s Estate Cabernet, previously known as “Santa Cruz Mountains”, is essentially the second wine for Monte Bello. The very strict selection process means that this cabernet benefits form some great barrels that just didn’t make the cut. The 2016 is 77% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot, 2% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc, all from the Monte Bello mountainside vineyard. 2016 was a lovely vintage in the Santa Cruz Mountains, with a little cooler than usual temperatures, especially during the nights, giving this wine even more freshness and clarity. Elegant in its youth this wine is balanced and can be enjoyed now if decanted, but it will also cellar well for years to come.
