Description

1x bottle of Chateau Rieussec. 1er Grand Cru Classe of Sauternes, in perfect condition as seen on the photos. Purchased from a specialist merchant within the last year and kept in a cool dark room under ground since. Fill level into neck. It drinks beautifully now but it would also age for years and years to come. This estate is co-owned by LVMH and the Rothschilds. Neighbouring Chateau d'Yquem, it is as good sweet Sauternes as it gets.

'The 2009 Rieussec has long been a favourite of mine. It is a little deeper in colour than its peers. This is rich and powerful with clear honey, acacia, orange blossom and quince aromas, just a hint of crème caramel in the background. The palate is very well balanced with another superb line of acidity. Very pure and focused with captivating tension on the finish, the tongue tingling with Szechuan peppers on the aftertaste. Wonderful. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. Drink 2020 - 2060. Score 97' Neal Martin March 2019

'Pale to medium gold colored, the 2009 Rieussec sings of crème caramel, chopped nuts, baked apples and spiced pears with hints of jasmine, peach blossoms and beeswax. Full-bodied, rich and decadently creamy in the mouth, the multilayered palate is beautifully lifted with fantastic freshness. It has a very long finish offering a lasting impression of great elegance and finesse. Simply stunning. 2019-2050. Score 98' Lisa Perrotti-Brown. March 2019

'Heavy and rich and wonderfully sumptuous. Great richness. Density and breadth. Still very chewy but there is lots here. Very rewarding. Date tasted 29th March 2010. Drink 2018-2036. Score 18/20' Jancis Robinson. April 2010
