Description

1x bottle of Royal Tokaji 5 Puttonyos from the 2005 vintage. The ageing has provided further flavour complexity to the intense sweet character, with the characteristic balanced acidity of the wine. This wine will keep almost forever and get better and better. This is a truly special wine from an old vintage which is nowadays a very rare find.

10.5% alcohol. Lively, intense aromas of marmalade, apricot, spice and citrus. The palate is concentrated with lots of sweetness but also some notes of grapefruit, marmalade, citrus peel and apricot. Real complexity here: rich, sweet and powerful but also with some savoury notes and a bit of grippy structure. 94/100 (Jamie Goode)

Slight oxidation adds nutty accents and an iodine note to this sinewy dessert white. There's not a log of flesh, yet this is intense and complex, with apricot, honey, smoke, spice and mineral flavors that won't quit. This has a dry, chalky feel on the finish. From Hungry. A deep, lush nose of honey, marmalade and lemon leads into fresh, bright fruit and acid undertones melded with luscious honey, orange peel and quince. A lingering finish spun with spice adds to the complex, elegant nature. Pair with cheeses, foie gras. 93/100 (Wine Enthusiast)
