Description

This wine is a "classic" St Julien, more so than the Gruaud Larose 2000 itself. It has that leanness and delicacy, plus a lovely rich forest fruits flavour that us older folk remember to be classic St Julien before all the efforts to over-extract and make pomerol style wines throughout the Medoc! The Sarget is a delicious wine and starts to blossom after an hour in the decanter. My tasting notes are from late 2011, I would assume the notes below were made much earlier.


A terrific, ageworthy claret and cracking value. Drinking to 2016.
