The 2008 Monteti impresses for its depth and pure sensual expression of fruit. A warm, inviting bouquet leads to dark cherries, asphalt, graphite, tar and licorice in this rich, dynamic wine. The personality of the Tuscan Maremma comes through in spades. The 2008 is another incredibly reasonably priced wine from Monteti. It will challenge wines costing two times (or more) as much! Monteti is 50% Petit Verdot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak barrels, 70% new. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. - Antonio Galloni

Starts out with some earthy funk in the aroma, leading to flavors of black currant, licorice, tobacco and spice on the palate. Dense, chewy and balanced, with a long aftertaste of black fruit, saline and licorice. Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2015 through 2024. – BS

PnD 2/3 of the bottle let air for 1hr. Consistent with previous note. Ripe fresh complex. Holding up better than I thought from first note. Wish I had more than 1 bottle left.

Dark plum nose with leather and pencil lead. A bit of graphite and metal on the palate, but a huge rush of black fruit infused with the earth, leather and a bit of barnyard. Very ripe, but seems to have the structure to last a few years.

2 years since my last tasting, and it has improved slightly. Outstanding wine for the price. Well balanced, fruity but not overpowering. Subtle tannins and acidity. Long finish.

drinking really really well at the moment. Lots of dark fruit and refreshing acidity, tannins well integrated.
