The result of the different characteristics of the two terroirs that make up the company, Casale del Bosco to the north west of the appellation and Manachiara to the south-east, also the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Docg stands out for its richness and breadth of tasting. After a gentle refinement of 24 months in tonneau and large woods, Eric Boissenot from Bordeaux intervenes to define the final blend. The very hot year gave a more concentrated wine, with hints of very ripe fruit in perfect balance with the spicy component. It is a warm and enveloping wine, with present but very ripe tannins that give it a very soft finish in the mouth. It is also a wine particularly dear to the producer, Emilia Nardi, because it is associated with the well-known British critic Steven Spurrier, who passed away about a year ago: "He arrived in Casale del Bosco right in the middle of summer 2017, on a very hot July day, but dressed as always with great elegance, in a jacket and tie, regardless of high temperatures. Together we went to visit the Tenute Silvio Nardi variety archive. It is a moment that I remember with particular affection ”. The archive is part of the large study and zoning project initiated by the company in the 1990s, which led to the complete renewal of the vineyard and the identification of the company's five identity Sangiovese clones, registered with the Ministry.
