Description

Szarmorodni szaraz must be picked in clusters at the beginning onset of Botrytis meaning that even though the cluster could attract more botryis if left to grow longer allowing the maker to make more profitable Aszú wines. This is a gamble on the part of the vinter and in turn, not all makers make Szamorodni szaraz. The wine has therefore minimal sugar after fermentation and is as dry as the table wines. By law, it can be bottled in the stumpy 500ml bottles because it contains some, be it very little, Aszú. This wine is the finest of all the dry wines in Tokaj and oftentimes has a silver, rather than gold, capsule to differentiate it from the sweet wines.

Would make a perfect gift for any wine lover with a 60th birthday next year!
