Description

Troplong Mondot, St Emilion. 2004. 2 bottles.
Drink: 2009 – 2020. (Selling for £52,80 per bottle)

‘Deep crimson, very very rich and charming on the nose with lovely balance. Lots of pleasure here. Could be drunk over a long period I think. Still quite dry finish. Good balance though.’ Jancis Robinson 17 points Decanter 19.5 points

This is a mouth filling and hedonistic merlot driven wine with lovely integrated oak, showing signs of maturity with fruit and tertiary favours nicely balanced, in fact just right now!

Larcis Ducasse, St Emilion. 2004. 2 bottles.
Drink: 2010 – 2022. (Selling for £49 bottle)

WA - An outstanding effort from the dynamic winemaking duo of Stephane Derenoncourt and Nicolas Thienpont, the 2004 Larcis Ducasse (78% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon) possesses complex aromatics of damp forest floor, cedar, cinnamon, kirsch liqueur, black currants, and roasted coffee. Soft, supple tannin, low acidity, and an expansive, fleshy, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel result in a seductive, complex, delicious claret. Only 3,300 cases were produced from this great terroir that has an unbelievable exposition. Drink the 2004 over the next 12-15 years.
Robert M. Parker, Jr - Wine Advocate #171

‘What a stunning transformation! This fabulously situated vineyard (next door to Pavie on the best slope in Saint Emilion) has always had potential but has never produced great wine. In 2002, Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt of neighbouring Pavie Macquin, took control of both the vineyard and the winemaking and it is now making beautiful creamy, silky, wine. Sweet, and impressive. Big in the mouth with lots going on. Rich, ripe fruit in the modern style but set against firm but ripe tannins. Not over-extracted - well-made.’ Farr Vintners 15.5+ Stephen Tanzer 91 points.

This is more concentrated than the Troplong with slightly more savoury toast and smokiness also delicious & ready to drink but with plenty of milage left in terms of development.
