2014 Valpolicella Ripasso Superore DOC - Collis - Veneto, Italy

Collis Veneto Wine Group is an agricultural consortium of cooperatives founded in 2008 through the integration of the Cantina di Colognola ai Colli and Cantine dei Colli Berici, cooperatives representing 2000 members in the provinces of Verona, Vicenza, and Padua.
The winegrowers themselves are the strength of the group. These small and medium-sized producers have been cultivating vines for generations on 6000 hectares of vineyards extending from the hills of Soave to the lands of Valpolicella, from the slopes of the Berici Hills to the Merlara plain, an important wine producing area in Veneto and Italy as a whole.

Product in the hilly area of the Illasi, Mezzane and Marcellise valleys, the vinification and ageing obtained using the traditional "ripasso" technique on the fermented marc of the dried grapes of the Amarone just racked. The marc, still loaded with sugars and aromas gives additional body, alcohol and longevity. After racking, this wine matures in wooden barrels and then in bottles for many months before release.
