Description

This auction is for a dozen containing three bottles each of the 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 vintages of Ulysse Cazabonne Pauillac, an officially anonymous wine well known to be declassified Château Latour. All bought first release and stored in reserves. From the original offer notes:

2019 drinking 2024-2037. From the vineyards of one of Bordeaux's greatest châteaux, whose name we are duty-bound not to reveal, this is a classic blend of fully ripe cabernet sauvignon and merlot displaying the freshness and purity of the exceptional 2019 vintage. The wine reveals notes of blackcurrants, pencil shavings and a hint of vanilla. Those who wish to try the wine before 2024 should decant it 45 minutes before drinking to aerate the wine and allow the flavours to unfurl.

2020 drinking 2026-2037. A classically styled northern Médoc from an impeccable source with notes of cassis and tar on the nose and savoury, pure dark fruit and pencil shavings character on the palate. Refined and classy, with characteristic Pauillac grip.

2021 drinking 2026-2038. A classically styled Pauillac from an impeccable source, whose name we are duty bound not to reveal. This is a traditional blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, showing an already expressive nose of cassis, graphite and tar with a palate that's mid-weight but with precision and power. The tannins are fine and mouthcoating, providing great structure with a core of bright blackcurrant and plum fruit.

2022 drinking 2028-2042. A classically styled Pauillac from an impeccable source, whose name we are duty bound not to reveal. This is a traditional blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, showing an already expressive nose of cassis, graphite and tar with a palate that's mid-weight but with precision and power. The tannins are fine and mouthcoating, providing great structure with a core of bright blackcurrant and plum fruit. Slightly insular currently we'd suggest cellaring for another five years before broaching. If opening prior to this we'd recommend decanting for an hour prior. [This desc is almost same as '21 - advert says this is a more powerful wine than '21.]
