Description

It may be one of the longest names in the wine world,but this wine is unique and very rarely seen on the UK retail market.Robert Parker rates the year 1981 as an above average to excellent vintage in the Nahe region of Germany.
Niederhausen is an acclaimed wine producing town in Nahe.The "hohle" in Hermannshohle refers to a small mine shaft that is home to the oldest rocks in Niederhausen,some 300 million years old.Riesling from Niederhausen Hermannshohle is prized for its concentration,elegance,and powerful ability to age.


Because of its rarity,it is difficult to quantify the value of this bottle.I have put a "No Reserve" on this sale and it is up to the "market forces" on Bid for Wine to determine its current value.
I have no evidence,but I believe this wine was retailing (circa 10 years ago) on Winesearcher for over £200 per bottle.
As a guide,on Winesearcher,a bottle of the 1989 Staatliche Weinbaudomane Niederhauser Hermannshohle Trockenbeerauslese is currently retailing in Germany for approx. £295 Ex Taxes.
