Description

*Impenetrable deep black colour that goes right to the glass rim.The palate is explosive and this may be like those pre-war memories of Rutherglen reds.A blockbuster,but not unbalanced,which explodes across the palate.A true "garagiste" wine that takes what grapes can make to the limit.Very long life ahead.Only 96 cases were made. Score 18.5/20. (Tasted 28/2/2002)".

"The Magpie wines are made by Rolf Binder,who is famous for his large-scale Shiraz.The flagship of this winery is the Shiraz "The Malcolm".The wine is sourced from a single dry-grown vineyard,with vine age ranging from 20 to 120 years.It is barrel fermented and receives the "200% new oak treatment",spending the first 12 months in new French oak,before being transferred to new American oak for another 12 months.It is bottled unfined and unfiltered".
