A scarce and highly characterful bottle of traditional Italian Vino Santo (Vino Liquoroso) produced by Cantine Carlo Torboli s.a.s. of Riva del Garda, in the renowned Trentino region of northern Italy. Originating from the historic Sarche area of the Valle dei Laghi, this style of dessert wine has long been regarded as one of the region's most distinctive specialities.
Presented in the attractive and increasingly uncommon 1-litre bulb-shaped bottle, this mature example is believed to date from the 1960s–1970s, although no vintage is stated, which is entirely typical of many traditional Italian Vino Santo bottlings from the period.
Produced in the classic Vino Santo style, this historic dessert wine is expected to offer rich notes of dried fruits, honey, caramel, toasted nuts and citrus peel. These wines are renowned for their longevity and have been enjoyed in Italy for generations as an after-dinner wine, served alongside biscuits, pastries, mature cheeses or simply on their own.
