Description

Two bottles of this premium Margaret River property; one each from the 1997 and 1998 vintages. There is some damage to the capsule of the 1997.

Both years are drinking well now, but certainly no rush to drink.

James Halliday rated them as follows:
1998 vintage: 96/100, drinking window 03-18
1997 vintage: 91/100, drinking window 02-12

7/12/2013 - HKM520240 WROTE: 92 Points
1998 Aussie Showdown dinner (Jade Palace Restaurant): Open before dinner for bottle breath and serve as 2nd wine for the night.
Dark ruby with glossy crimson hue, open up nicely for tasting with lots of minty character on the nose along with blackcurrant and cedar oak.
It has robust but smooth palate contributed by its age, with cassis, minty eucalyptus and hints of oak and earthiness. Layers fruits and seamless mid-palate extend into a long lingering finish with fine tannins.
Showing very well for the night and the group preferred this to Domain A. A Margaret River victory for this flight!

Thursday, August 09, 2012 - Lovely, integrated and just a pleasure to drink. Lots of fruit left but tannins nicely resolved. Really enjoyed and wish I had more. One of my wines of the year so far.
