Description

Dr Pauly Bergweiler wines are not very well known in the UK market, but the estate has a range of highly prized vineyard holdings in the Middle Mosel.

Urziger Wurzgarten is a particularly steep vineyard with a mix of weathered red volcanic soils and slates that is unique in the Mosel. It produces wines with rich tropical fruit flavours and exotic spicy aromas. Indeed the name "Wurzgarten" means "Spice Garden".

I can't find any critic ratings for this 2001 Eiswein, but 2001 was an excellent vintage in the Mosel, and the 2001 Trockenbeerenauslese from this vineyard was rated 95/100 points by Wine Spectator.
