Lot size: 1 bottle of 750 ml each Wine type: Red, 1966 vintage
Tax status: Duty PaidQuestion Mark Origin: Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
Fill level: Into Neck (IN)Question Mark Grape variety: Bordeaux Blend

Although it has a label in a poor torn state, the vintage '66 is visable and this bottle has a remarkably high wine fill still well into neck and evidence that it must have been stored in excellent cellar conditions:-

"Wonderful deep ruby--looks very healthy. Beautifully sweet with a certain delicacy now, though surely one of the more vigorous 1966s at more than 40 years old. Sweet and complete with a very slightly dry finish but still marching on. Long and rewarding--not frail at all. No awkwardness or austerity. A great 1966".
(18/20 Points).

Jancis Robinson MW. (JancisRobinson.com January 2009).

"This always is a long-distance runner, and a château whose wine I now buy every vintage. My first taste of the '66 was a pleasant, piquant Justerini & Brooks' bottling in 1971. At a Decanter tasting in 1979, softer than Ducru; a well-developed, characteristically sinewy classic in the mid-1980s. Last tasted April 1993. **** and still developing".

Michael Broadbent. (Vintage Wine Book).

The last tasting note on the 1966 Grand Puy Lacoste on Cellartracker:-

"An excellent showing for this wine. Not decanted; nor should it be. It quickly opens up in the glass. Great Pauillac character with cassis, earthy aspect, cigar box and still nice texture. Drink soon though...".
(91 Points).

Vagrantone. (Cellartracker. 22/11/2018).
