Description

The lot consists of three bottles of 2009 claret:-

One bottle of 2009 Chateau Prieure-Lichine (94-97 Pts WS...93 Pts RP) Margaux 4eme Grand Cru Classe.
Two bottles of 2009 Chateau D'Agassac (89-92 Pts WS...88 Pts RP) Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois.

Robert Parker hailed the 2009 vintage as "The finest vintage of Bordeaux that I have tasted in 37 years".

"What's so striking about 2009 - and I haven't seen this kind of excitement since 1982 - is the quality of the Cru Bourgeois and the petits vins and the generic Bordeaux that are available. In short,2009 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in Bordeaux since 1982,of which it is a modern-day version, but greatly improved.

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #188. April 2010).

Two tasting notes on the magnificent 2009 Chateau Prieure-Lichine:-

"The soft, sexy 2009 exhibits a dense plum/purple color along with a big, sweet bouquet of raspberries, black cherries, black currants, smoke and forest floor. Opulent and round with an attractive viscosity as well as outstanding purity, depth and length, it should drink well for two decades. While not one of the longest lived wines of the vintage, it is among the most precocious, flattering and charming at present.
Prieure-Lichine's beautiful, seductive 2009 is one of the finest efforts yet made at this property that was rejuvenated under the late Alexis Lichine. Quality began improving dramatically about fifteen years ago and with the hiring of wine consultant Stephane Derenoncourt things have improved even further".
(93 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. March 2012).

"Complex aromas of mineral, blueberry and currant follow through to a full body, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish. This is exceptional. Best of all time".
(94-97 Points).

James Suckling. (WineSpectator.com April 2010).

Two tasting notes on the 2009 Chateau D'Agassac:-

"Mineral and berry aromas, with hints of toasted oak. Medium- to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a medium finish. Focused and polished for this appellation".
(89-92 Points).

James Suckling. (The Wine Spectator. April 2010).

"Probably the best d’Agassac I have tasted, this sleeper of the vintage exhibits excellent concentration, texture and length. Loads of cassis and floral notes along with sweet tannin and low acidity characterize this blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot"
(88 Points).

Robert Parker. (www.robertparker.com February 2012).
