Description

Chateau Blaignan,where viticulture goes back to the 14th century,produced a superb wine in the outstanding 2010 Bordeaux vintage,which should come close to Cru Classe quality.Denis Dubourdieu is the consulting oenologist.Average age of the vines is 30 years...planted to 52% Cabernet Sauvignon,47% Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc,grown on a limestone/clay soil in the northern part of the Medoc,whose sedimation dates back to the quartenary period.


This wine was awarded a Gold Medal at the Concours General Agricole,Paris 2012.
It was also awarded 32nd place in Wine Enthusiast's Top 100 Wines for 2013:-

"Aromatic hints of new wood translate onto the smooth palate.It has smoke and black currant flavors,with tannins that are already well integrated.Attractive acidity gives this a final lift.Keep it for 5-6 years".

"I actually have tasted this wine previously and knew it as soon as it hit my tongue.This is a Cabernet Sauvignon heavy Medoc, with 60% CS and 40% merlot. It is medium-bodied, tannic and quite earthy with notes of leather and strong oak.It also has hints of plums and cherries with medium to light acidity.The finish is very smooth.This wine is ready to drink now, though 1-2 years certainly wouldn't hurt!".
