Description

THREE lots of TWO HALF BOTTLES

2001 was a tremendous year for the great sweet wines of Bordeaux, probably the best in the last decade and Coutet excelled itself. Rich, luscious and opulent, with appealing tropical notes on the nose that carry through onto the palate, where they are joined by the beautiful complexity that comes from botrytised fruit. Perfectly balanced, with an elegant and refreshing acidity that carries through onto a sensational finish.

Ratings:
93 points - Wine Advocate/Robert Parker
93 points - Wine Spectator
93 points - Wine Access/Stephen Tanzer
17.5/20 - Jancis Robinson
17.5/20 - La Revue du Vin de France

Neal Martin of the Wine Advocate tasted this in 2011 and wrote:
"Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 10-Year On horizontal. This has a lovely floral nose with touches of marzipan, honey, white peach and just a faint petrol scent. The palate is medium-bodied with a very deft opening, quite a bit of creamy oak, lovely lemon curd, peach and apricot towards the finish with a hint of caramel interlacing the long finish. Vibrant and life-affirming."
