A chance to sample a trio of rare Canadian Riesling from Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Not generally available outside of Canada, these were bottles were originally imported for the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).

Historically, the Platinum Block Riesling gets two picks. In 2017 there were three in a Platinum attempt to create a complexity of flavours and acidities in the wine. It worked. The style is tight and lean with bright minerality and a fresh, linear palate. Look for peach, orange, ginger, and a delicious, floral, mouthwatering finish. Everything is in balance here with a clean, mineral undercurrent to add a dash of complexity. Drink or hold, there is no rush. (Anthony Gismondi)

From their estate 1977 planting of clone 21B Riesling, this biodynamic riesling was native fermented in stainless, arrested with chilling when the desired sugar / acid level was achieved. This year was 25.9 g/L RS, 9.8 TA, and 11.4%. Now, with a couple of years' age, is showing beautifully, with pulpy lime, white pepper, pear on a shining, off-dry palate. This finishes with a riffing grip, welcoming another glass or a variety of pairings. (Treve Ring)
