Castello Banfi is a relative newcomer to the Montalcino region having only been founded in 1978 and this is a fully mature Brunello from the brilliant 1985 vintage. Sangiovese wines age exceptionally well due to high natural acidity and develop lovely savoury aromas and flavours of dried cherry, leather and spice.
