You are bidding on a rare bottle of the 1966 Gruaud Larose Left Bank wine from the St Julien region of Bordeaux. 1966 was fêted as a great year for this wine which is predominantly cabernet sauvignon and merlot with a touch of cabernet franc and petit verdot. The wine was deemed to be "Le Vin des Rois" "The Wine of the Kings" and Gruaud Larose is a 2ème Grand Cru Classé vineyard with an impressive 82 hectares of vines planted on a mixture of gravel, sand, pebbles and clay. In 1966 the vineyard was owned by Cordier as evidenced from the label - Cordier were also owners of Chateau Talbot at the time. Owing to big tannins the wine is capable of lasting many years maturing in the bottle. This 1966 bottle is in excellent condition and currently stored in a temperature and humidity controlled cellar. It has good levels and would make a very special birthday or anniversary gift.
