Description

I have for sale 1 bottle of Chateau Leoville Barton 1982 from the legendary 1982 vintage. Purchased as part of a case of 12.

The cheapest this can be bought according to Wine Searcher is £138, my reserve is way below that.

Label is stained and have become detached and so have been reattached using cling-film, the foils are in very good condition for the age and the levels are superb which you would expect given they have been well stored. Just to be completely clear the pictures are other bottles from the case and I have included to give an indication of the condition of the labels in the case.

I enjoyed a bottle from this case a year ago and it was delicious!

I have placed a modest reserve on the wines.

at plateau now. perfumed and seductive.

6/17/2017 - ANDREWSTEVENSON.COM WROTE: 96 Points
Wine-Pages Glasgow Festival of Wine Post Offline (The Western Club, Glasgow): A gorgeous nose: deep, very precise blackcurrant fruit.
Superb palate. Like pure liquid silk on the tongue. Finer than a fine thing. Lovely poised, elegant, black fruit. Packed full of depth and interest. Terrific.

5/5/2017 - NORWAMATEUR WROTE: 91 Points
Beginning brown color. The fruit is still there and the aftertaste is long, although not breathtaking.

No brown. Nicely aged since purchase in 1985. Has more years in front of it, but will not improve. Somewhat muted and therefore disappointing aromatics. Some cigar box. Balanced on palate with more earth than fruit. Average finish. Enjoyable wine, but had higher hopes after cellaring all these years.

I am in agreement with Vinnut. This is my 3rd of 6 bottles. Cork broke 2/3 way down but the wine was fine, with a garnet color and a bit of a damp forest nose when first opened. It developed in the glass over 30 min - no decanting needed. A musty tobacco and leather nose, with herbs, cherries and spices. Incredibly well integrated tannins. Drinking beautifully now and will certainly hold for at least another 5 years, but unlikely to get any better.
