Here we have one of my pride & joys, a single bottle of Chateau Petrus 1953.
Bottle is in very good condition for its age, some 64years.
Slight damage to capsule top (see picture), although this takes nothing away from the wine which still looks in good shape.
Label is very good & level is top shoulder.
Capsule has also been trimmed for authenticity, the year 1953 clearly stamped into the cork.
Robert Parker describes Chateau Petrus as " the undisputed King of Pomerol & probably the most famous red wine in the world" and he goes on to say " there has been few Bordeaux wines that match this property for its extraordinary combination of power, richness, complexity & elegance.
The 1953 is a youthful, very fresh Petrus, with lively black olive characters and an expansive, powerful mouthfeel. A Medoc-like nose offers subtle, restrained, menthol, blackcurrant & caramel scented aromas. Medium-bodied, with politely elegant, sweet flavours, and a rich, well balanced finish. This is one of the most restrained & subtle Petrus offerings I have tasted, but the wine is excellent.
This wine has been kept in a cellared environment since purchase at auction some 20 years ago.
Wine searcher gives it an average value of £4050 ex tax, but I have set the reserve at 25% of that value for a more realistic selling price.
Direct deposit is preferred, although paypal is accepted a 5% fee will be added to the final invoice.
