This Port was stored on its side inside a straw sleeve (no longer in situ) and inside a sideboard, so effectively in the dark and at room temperature with very little variation. This came from my late fathers house, and I guess he received it as a gift (he was in sales) so whilst I do not know exactly how long it has been there it is many many years. The bottle is wax sealed but there appears to have been some sort of leakage, as whilst the seal appears intact and is not damp, you can see from staining on the DOHC type paper seal that something has gone on. No staining inside the wooden sideboard and the level is up to the base of the neck, so if anything has leaked it is minimal.
For 100% transparency there would be an element of risk in purchasing this item, it may be a very minor issue, or the wine could be spoiled - I as the seller do not have the knowledge to know!
