Description
Dom Pérignon Rosé is only available as a vintage champagne and is only produced in exceptional years. Each vintage is a creation, singular and unique, that expresses both the character of the year, and is a tribute to Pinot Noir. To work with Pinot Noir continually requires excellence and humility and Dom Pérignon Rosé is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Although it takes over ten years to reach the light of day, the colour of Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint.
Weather: The 2003 vintage was one of pre-eminence: a year like no other, defined by extremes. The vineyard was first touched by severe spring frosts that left a lasting mark on the Champagne region before being struck with an unparalleled heatwave. As a result, the crop was perfectly ripe and healthy but left a particularly small harvest: this was the most precocious since 1822.

Tasting Note: A pale tomato red, with a distinctly orange tinge thanks to the age. The nose incites a burst of red fruits and complexity. The palate is concentrated, full and rich, with strawberry notes and a suggestion of long oak ageing. Dom Pérignon have produced a great and classy rosé from a difficult year.

“An insanely awesome wine where Richard Geoffroy stretched the limits to the maximum. Can you really make such a burgundy scented Rosé champagne? Will not Rousseau and Ponsot become envious? The roundness and the velvety structure settles like the most wonderful Persian carpet on the palate. Buy and follow this historic wine which might constitute the eve of something new.”
