Description

One bottle of this well-regarded wine, being the bottle shown in the photographs, bought from a reputable wine merchant nearly 20 years ago and properly cellared since then in a dark underground cellar. It is the only bottle I have left. The level is into the neck as shown, and the front label is in decent condition, with a small amount of scuffing on the back label.

Not currently available in the UK as far as I can see. Wine-searcher reports an average price ex tax of £653.

92 Points, The Wine Spectator: "This is up there with the quality of fine '99s. Remarkably supple, rich, complex, layered with mocha, chocolate, espresso, toasted coconut and loads of ripe black currant flavors. Silky as they get." (02/2003).

90 Points, Stephen Tanzer's The International Wine Cellar: "Deep red. Superripe nose hints at plum, licorice and earth, with complicating notes of roasted herbs. Sweet and plummy in the mouth; gives an impression of lower acidity than the Boudots (and the Chaumes) and seems a bit less complex and easier to understand. Finishes with moderately ripe tannins and very good length. Rich and satisfying, but without quite the tensile strength of the Nuits Boudots." (Mar/Apr 03)
