This unique bottle of 1850 Madeira from one of the best producers around can only be found at a few reputable UK Merchants at over £900 per bottle. Stored in a temperature controlled cellar, this is a pristine piece of history that I am reluctant to part with.
The 1850 Verdelho remains an exquisite Madeira that is one of the finest ever produced in this, the founding year of the winery. It has a well-defined bouquet with seductive notes of fresh marmalade, quince, dried mango and melted candle wax. The palate is crisp and well-defined with superb acidity that is perfectly in tune with the spice-laden vestiges of decayed fruit.
