TWO LOTS of a bottle of each, from their previously unopened Original Wooden Case and all in perfect condition.

Taylor's
Wine Spectator - Jun 2008
Medium ruby. Beautiful aromas of flowers and fresh plum, with hints of stems. Full-bodied and medium-sweet, with gorgeous silky tannins and a long, long finish. This 1985 Port vintage is just starting to come around and offers wonderful flavours. Long life ahead, but ready to try.

Wine Doctor :
Typical for Taylor's. Notes of woodspice and pepper, very slightly spirity. Nevertheless, a delicious texture on entry, supple and stylish, although with a very firm weight, firm tannins and good acids. Again this is fine to drink now, although it still holds some potential now. Very good indeed, bordering on excellent. From a Port Styles tasting. 17.5+/20 (November 2007), £79.95

Dow's
Arguably the high point for Port in the 1980's, the 1985 vintage saw the declaration of some real gems, which are now hovering tantalisingly around peak maturity. This example from Dow's has a wonderfully round ripeness of texture, with smooth tannins a well-defined, yet mellow core of inky black fruits.

"Drinking beautifully now at early optimal maturity, this has at least another few years of development in front of it and many years of drinking pleasure after that. Now it is nicely developed, well integrated, juicy and ripe with a nice balance between its power, weight, and texture; it is succulent but still elegant. Delicious. Really excellent."
