Taylor's, which remains an independent family-run business since its inception around 300 years ago, is also the market brand leader. It is one of the earliest shippers to acquire vineyards to produce the wine themselves, rather than merely buying from winemakers and then maturing it, thus ensuring a name synonymous with quality.
1992 was an excellent Port vintage, one of the very best in decades, and Taylor’s Vintage is drinking very well right now, with further development to come in bottle.

“Wow. The nose is incredibly intense, a ravishing pot-pourri of scents: black cherries, raspberry, cassis and vanilla pod all with amazing delineation. I will have to employ my off used phrase -controlled opulence-. The palate is full-bodied with layers of pure black fruits with beautifully defined tannins, vibrant acidity, immense power but the same level of control. Pure blueberry, liquorices and crushed violets towards the finish with a citrus undertow…it will surely rank alongside the likes of the -35 and the -48 in years to come.
