The surname 'Burmester comes from the German word "Burg Master" (Mayor) - since the family came from the small town in northern Germany Moelln. In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded a grain trade in London under the name Burmester & Nash. In 1750 the company moved to Vila Nova de Gaia and they began shipping from Port to the British Isles and the rest of Europe. Rare wine. Tasting Note: The 1950 is an old Port wine of exceptional quality and elegance, a CASA BURMESTER classic thats made from a single harvest - a Vintage Tawny - aged in small 550-liter oak barrels in Their Vila Nova de Gaia Cellar.

Lively amber colour. In the nose stands-out the dried figs aromas involved by a sweet touch of honey. Wonderfully soft and round, with the mouth full of ripe figs flavours. Long and persistent finish.
