Niepoort is a small company from Holland established in 1842 by Eduard Kebe. In 1847 F.M. van de Niepoort joined a partner. Niepoort is currently managed by the fifth generation of the family with Dirk Niepoort now running the business. Niepoort did not own any of their own vineyards buying in quality grapes from long term partners in the Douro valley but at the end of the 1980’s purchased Quinta do Carril, Quinta do Passadouro and Quinta de Nápoles.
This rare 1959 Tawny port exhibits a light ruby/garnet colour, sweet jammy fruit, nice spice, cedar and smoke in the nose, and good concentration. Drink now - 2029.
