JB @ Hereford Road (Hereford Road, London): 14 hr decant. Quite mellow and restrained on the nose. Nicely sweet with a savoury edge. Dusty blackcurrant pastille fruit. Smooth. ****

12/30/2009 - DAN BAILEY WROTE:
Opened and double decanted for 12 hours before serving. Fantastic port and another example of one that makes you ask why you don't drink port every day! Such deep black fruit caressing the palate. Gorgeous with a great cheese plate from Charles.

Corked or not, I enjoyed this and obviously didn't pick up on the fact that it was very slightly corked. Brick in color, but seeming to have a good amount of life left. Caramel, toffee, chocolate.. very good.

Seattle Tasting Group does Italians and six decades of Porto hosted by Roy Hersh (Bellevue, WA, USA): A faded rim with glowing color, very pretty to behold. About half of the folks on the room thought this was lightly corked, but I didn't catch this at all. In fact, this wine had my favorite nose of the flight with a soaring, floral personality, caramel, chocolate and mint. On the palate this was very sweet with a heavy (but not cloying) texture with caramel and tart and juicy fruit. The finish was explosive, very long and complex.
