Description

One bottle of this well regarded vintage port.

Averaged critical rating 91/100.

Cellartracker tasting notes:

10/27/2018 - cannym Likes this wine: 92 Points

Fine mid ruby. Quite spirity on opening but much better 10 hours later. Still some red and raisin fruits, spiciness, peppery. Very smooth and long. Really fine middle weight port....

1977 and 1963 Vintage Ports... (Regional Wines and Spirits, Wellington, New Zealand): Visually, far more dense than the 1975 Delaforce, with a touch of ruby in the centre. Spicy, balsam and sappy nose, with a nice touch of floral nuance. Very powerful in the mouth, with a sweet and fiery finish. This is very good - outstanding for me, with its concentration a special feature...

James Suckling, August 2011:

I went down to my cellar and found a bottle of Warre 1977. I have always been a great fan of 1977, even though a number of Vintage Port aficionados say the vintage is overrated. I think that the wines will stay very much the same for decades ahead. This was true of such great vintages as 1963 and 1927.

Anyway, the Warre was beautiful now. It showed lots of dried fruits and Christmas cake character on the nose and palate. Medium sweet. It was full-bodied with loads of flavor and an intensely flavorful finish. It was perfect to drink. 94 points.
