Extremely rare and fine wine from Madame Prum s favourite vintage, the 1983 Auslese Goldkapsel.
Not available in the UK and in only a handful of places globally.
Fortunate to inherit a fine collection of Rieslings from the cellar of the former MD of Corney & Barrow, a trio if which are shown here.
Storage has been professional home cellar throughout it s lifetime.
Though listed as being in drinking window until 2030, having reached its 40th year this seems the moment to either drink or sell. I have enjoyed one of these bottles and found it to be quite monumental. Sweetness and acidity still holding structure, thought the palate is drier than it would have been in youth and probably more likeable for it. Developed botrytis notes and lots of juicy apple, pineapple, fig and spice cupboard aromas.
The equally rare non-goldkapsel version is offered alongside, as well as Egon Muller s Langwerth von Simmern Erbacher Marcobrunn Riesling Auslese 1971.
As you can see, neck level and condition is extremely impressive on all three. A trio of truly rare gems. collectors items to be enjoyed by a connoisseur.
