1 bottle, red Bordeaux (believed 1870 per bin markings and cellar records). No label but believed to be
Mouton Rothschild. Top of Capsule is embossed 'Des[illegible character] Du Baron De Rothschild around the edge. Mouton is embossed in the centre. Level between M/S and B/S

All lots from this cellar were fully inspected by BfW prior to sale. Another bottle of the same wine (with a level of B/S) was opened to and to read cork branding (this was no longer legible). It possessed a deep salmon colour. The nose was, to my surprise, still fresh - the main character was a dominant green pepper note. The palate was relatively attenuated and had acidity to the fore - however it was fresh. A fascinating opportunity to taste history.
