Description

Fifth Growth. Cinquieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855. Indicative blend: Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

The famously backward 1957 vintage, opened by Jean-Michel Cazes in honour of the birth year of the Clerk of the Royal Cellars Simon Berry. The nose was sweet and delightfully minerally. On the palate there was still remarkably high acidity but on the finish it was vanquished by a rich, round finish. (14-Jul-2015) Jancis Robinson
