FOR SALE: ONE BOTTLE OF 1959 CHATEAU LATOUR 1er GRAND CRU CLASSE PAUILLAC
Albeit in slightly bin-soiled / cellar-stored condition, this very rare and esteemed bottle is in very good, and well-stored condition, despite the marks on it that are totally commensurate with cellar rack storage. The label, although a bit dirty, is perfectly intact and readable. The capsule is fully intact and bears the embossed chateau motif and of course the vintage; and the level and colour is excellent for being in the bottle for 50+ years.
This wine has been lauded over the years by professional critics. Currently garnering a score of 96/100 from Robert Parker, 98/100 from Wine Spectator and 100/100 from Neal Martin. The Cellar Tracker Community are also fullsome in their praise of this wine, with an average score of 96/100. It is unanimously agreed that there is another couple of decades of at least of life left in this wine.
Value wise, this wine is available from merchants here in the UK for £1250 ex VAT for a bottle with a lower level - and upwards of £2400 ex VAT for a bottle in good condition. FRW are selling a half-sized bottle for £754 ex VAT. A fair and modest reserve has been set that takes into account the condition/level and of course, the prestige of this bottle.
