Mouton was promoted a First Growth only in 1973 by Président Pompidou on his deathbed, so consequently the bottle we have here is strictly speaking a second growth, not that that changes much, even less the wine in the bottle...
The level is probably a bit above mid shoulder - see the photos.
The (Kandinsky) label is a bit battered with nibbles to three of the corners which hopefully can be seen in the photos.
The embossed capsule is good with no signs of any leaks.

This bottle was top shoulder fill with a slightly water stained label. The cork was soaked to the top and came out in 2 pieces. I thought it might be a bit fragile, but this bottle really came together after 2 hours and was holding its own at four hours. Classic left bank earth and blackberry pairing beautifully with lamb. It has a little bit of a hard finish which does not detract as long as it is enjoyed with food. This is a wine that really delivers the old Bordeaux experience, but it takes time and proper fare to shine. Lovely claret.
