'This has always been somewhat of an insider's wine that rarely gets the attention it deserves. Moreover, it tends to sell at a significantly lower price than most other top Pauillacs. The 111-acre vineyard, planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc, is run by Xavier Borie, the son of Jean-Eugene Borie, the proprietor of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Grand-Puy-Lacoste's style is one of considerable richness, fruit, body, and tannin - in short - a classic Pauillac.'
