TWO lots of TWO bottles of this large Médoc estate. 70 hectares planted with 68% Cab Sauv, 28% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot.

The labels of these four bottles have suffered - see photos - but all the essentials remain

Vinified in the most traditional manner (aged in oak etc.) Ch Tour de By (pron 'bee' please, NOT bye) can date its origins back beyond 1599 and has been a serious and sought after estate for the past 180 years and remains a reference point in the Médoc appellation. In the good vintages (1978 being one of them) By produces big powerful wines capable of lengthy ageing.
