Description

A good bottle spoilt by a "glue banded" label.
Glue banding is happily a thing of the past as practically all labels are now auto adhesive and traditional glue is but a vague souvenir.

Otherwise this bottle has survived well, perhaps due to a damp cellar the level is excellent for 35 years in bottle - Base of Neck. The embossed capsule is good and undisturbed. No signs of any seepage.

The château and it's 50 hectares of vines of Ch Branaire Ducru is situated opposite Ch Beychevelle. Planted with 70% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The property was part of Beychevelle up until 1666 and was bought by Jean-Baptiste Braneyre who left it to his grandchildren, the du Luc, hence its full name Branaire Ducru (Duluc-Ducru). Like Beychevelle, Branaire Ducru is a 4th Growth in the 1855 classification.

This 35 year old is in excellent fettle with an unexpectedly high level - just into the neck, a fading but complete label and a fully intact capsule.
