Description

TWO LOTS OF TWO BOTTLES

All four bottles are in remarkably good condition and until very recently were cellared under a large West Sussex country house.

Levels (base of neck or higher), labels and capsules are as one dreams of for 35 years in bottle...

Some Cellar Tracker notes:

6/19/2015 - BACCHUS WROTE: 90 Points
the last of 12 half-bottles. pulled this as appetite was limited and longevity was in question. Shared with pat at Selkirk Manor. Color of the wine was crimson. no other signs of excessive age. Generous nose. Very feminine. Fades quickly in the glass. Still has youthful fruit, not tertiary. Soft in the mouth, no tannins or acid left. Remarkable staying power considering the modest vintage and small bottle size.

6/28/2013 - SKEBUM WROTE: 90 Points
Light red with slight bricking at the edges. Light red reminds me of a Burgundy color wise. Some minerals on the palate with some light fruit left, tannins have blended into the wine and are almost gone. Very soft Bdx, nicely balanced.

2/3/2013 - BACCHUS WROTE: 90 Points
Shared with Pat at Selkirk Manor. Not sure how this wine escaped my attention in recent years other than the fact that my wine appetite usually calls for more than 1/2 bottle. No ullage but cork adhesion required an ah so and resulted in extraction in two segments. Lower half was saturated and loose. Color of the wine was crimson. Transparency at the rim with a hint of brown. Generous nose. Very feminine. Fades quickly in the glass. Youthful fruit, not tertiary. Soft in the mouth, no tannins or acid left. Remarkable staying power considering the modest vintage and small bottle size. Will have last remaining bottle in the fall.

7/30/2011 - CAMWHEELER WROTE: 89 Points
Tobacco, cedar and a touch of flint. Palate still has some fruit power to it, with nice length. Drinking well with elements resolved.
