TWO LOTS of Six bottles of this mature 30 year old Saint Emilion at an attractive 'BUY IT NOW' price. Château bottled. Obviously they have been very well cellared and in excellent overall condition. Levels around base of neck, labels and capsules in very good order.
It is rare to find 30 year olds in such good order and drinking well.
La Rose Blanche is a small family owned 6 hectare estate in the commune of Saint Christophe des Bardes. Planted with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet.
A recent tasting note:
Eye: Quite intense crimson: I could detect no browning at all and certainly none around the rim.
Limpid despite travel and disturbance mid week. Probably throwing a slight and normal deposit.
Nose: At first not much. After 5 minutes a leathery, quite pleasant aroma. Decanted and left alone an hour the nose picks up to reveal an attractive bouquet of flowers and leafy undergrowth.
Mouth: Rarely does one taste a 30 year old ‘petit château’. It certainly is not the alcoholic Ribena that has become commonplace since 1986! No, this is still well balanced, retaining some fruit and standing upright in its boots.
Conclusion: Good all round wine and at that price, unlikely to be bettered for what it is. Very pleasant.
