Created in 1731,the Bouchard Père et Fils House has bought some of the most successful vineyard sites in Burgundy. In 1811,the name "Bouchard Pere & Fils" was created. Throughout the 19th century,sale of lands took place and during the 20th century,Bouchard focused on their vineyards,rather than expanding them.However,from 1969,the original purchasing policy resumed. The Domaine now has 130 hectares (and other vineyard areas in Beaune where grapes are purchased) including 12 hectares of Grands Crus and 74 hectares of Premiers Crus. With nearly 50 hectares spread over 23 areas,Bouchard Père & Fils is now the largest vineyard owner in Beaune Premier Cru.
Tasting notes on the 1988 Bouchard Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus:-
"Delicate nose, a lot of subtlety in attack,smoothness of fruit,tannins fine and precise, flexible and long length, pure finish. Peak from 2018 to 2028".

The Carmelite monks maintained this vineyard until its confiscation during the French Revolution. The Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus 1er Cru is now one of the jewels of Maison Bouchard Père & Fils,and they are the sole owner of the four hectares of this famous red Beaune wine.It surpasses many grand cru wines in its ability to age gracefully.
