One bottle of 1989 Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert (90 Points WS...RP).

The year 1989 was considered by Robert Parker to be a top, high quality vintage in Gigondas and an outstanding vintage in Crozes-Hermitage.

Robert Parker's wine tasting notes on the 1989 Jaboulet Gigondas Pierre Aiguille:-

"I was knocked out by the spectacular 1989 Pierre Aiguille.Made from 100% Grenache, this black/ruby-colored wine exhibits a bouquet that soars from the glass, offering up aromas of roasted nuts, chocolate, black cherries, raspberries, and minerals. In the mouth it makes a super impression, with a full-bodied,sensationally concentrated texture. This wine is crammed with fruit, and displays a heady, spicy, alcoholic finish. This is Jaboulet's finest Gigondas since their 1967".
(90 Points).

Robert Parker. (Wines of the Rhone Valley 1997).

Tasting notes on the 1989 Jaboulet Domaine de Thalabert:-

"Exuberantly fruity and dense in flavor, with blackberry jam and pepper notes gushing out in the aromas and continuing through the long finish. Hints of spice, butter and vanilla from oak aging lend it complexity. Has firm tannins, and is well balanced"
(90 Points).

The Wine Spectator. (July 1991).

"A dark ruby/garnet-colored wine, the 1989 offers up an intense bouquet of sweet, cedary spices, olives, and black fruits. It is lush, richly fruity, and full-bodied, with plenty of glycerin and sweet tannin in the finish".
(90 Points).

In more recent tasting notes on Cellartracker, the 1989 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert continues to get good tasting notes and ratings. The most recent tasting note:-

"Really enjoyed this at IB&WS society November event. Lots of acidity and very fresh dark fruits but also plenty of aged tertiary flavors in the form of black pepper, herbs and smoky spices. Lots of funky Northern Rhone character with hints of game and forest floor on the spicy, complex, grippy finish. A unique wine".
(92 Points).
