Description

From the proprietor Pierre Damoy, kindly nicknamed Mister Chambertin, Pierre Damoy is an important figure in Burgundy. He produces wines from half of the famous Chambertin Clos de Bèze and also five hectares in Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin appellations, much of them planted in 1920. With this marvelous raw material, he is able to produce very impressive wines, made on the minerality of this great terroir. Regarded by wine critics as one of the best producers of Burgundy, Pierre Damoy creates wines with strength, freshness, longevity, race, complexity …

The 1990 is an outstanding vintage with an upward price trend, not quite in the bracket of ARMAND ROUSSEAU which may cost you £1000 a bottle, but having drunk two of the four I harvested, I can say this is a remarkable wine for a lot less than Rousseau!

The bottles have some minor label damage... but who's buying it for the label!
