Description
In recent years Chateau Angelus has been one of the few Bordeaux wines in which buyers continue to show interest. It seems to have gained considerably in popularity and price.
This could possibly be,because Angelus now seems to be the favourite wine of James Bond! Chateau Angelus was seen and drunk by Bond in both the films "Casino Royale" and more recently in "Spectre":-
"The Live-ex Bordeaux 2014 price guide reveals that only four chateaux - Angelus,Calon-Segur,Le Petit Mouton, and Le Pin - have shown meaningful returns since the 2009 vintage".
Adam Lechmere. (WineSearcher. 30/3/2015).
"A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, this is clearly the greatest Angelus until the 2000, 2003 and then the perfect 2005. Beautiful, sweet plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit soar from the glass of this opaque, purple wine that still hasn’t lost much in color. Deep, opulent, voluptuously textured, full-bodied and multidimensional, this is a stunner and just now approaching its plateau of full maturity, where it should stay for at least another 20 years".

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #220. August 2015).
"This blockbuster,blue/purple-colored wine boasts an exceptional nose of subtle licorice, menthol, creme de cassis, blackberries, and hints of coffee and charcoal.Full-bodied,flamboyant,and opulent, with low acidity and sweet tannin,it still seems young at age 19.Expansive and full, wine lovers will argue for decades to come which is better, the sensational 1990 or the equally terrific 1989.It should continue to drink beautifully for 20-25 years".

The latest tasting note on the 1990 Chateau Angelus on Cellartracker:-
"Absolutely gorgeous showing and probably the best Right Bank wine I've ever had. Decanted about 30 minutes and that was plenty, as the nose was beautifully expressive, with ripe black plums, sweet black cherries, graphite, warm soil, and cedar. On the palate, this was just seamless, with a luxurious, satiny texture, tons of ripe fruit, and nice mineral twang on the long, sweet finish. A total stunner that's at peak but could go years longer".
