Description

The 1999 vintage was during the period when the winemaking at Greenock Creek was under the auspices of the legendary Chris Ringland.Robert Parker considers Greenock Creek to be one of his favourite wineries, not only in Australia, but in the world.Only 750 cases of this great shiraz are produced annually,so this is a rare opportunity to secure two bottles from an older vintage:-

"This has quickly become one of my favourite wineries, not only in Australia, but in the world.Winemaker Chris Ringland, assisted by Mike Waugh, continue to turn out brilliant, blockbuster wines that are in many ways the quintessential over-sized,flamboyant,in-your-face style that make Australia's reds so distinctive".

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. #135. 23/6/2001).

"Greenock Creek has been one of the finest performers in my Australian wine tastings since I first tasted the wines with Dan Philips.Owners Michael and Annabelle Waugh are highly respected growers and winemaker Chris Ringland is one of Barossa's most talented stars.
Readers looking for full-throttle Shiraz with fabulously ripe, concentrated fruit should check out the powerhouse 1999 Shiraz Seven Acre (aged in new and old American oak for 28 months),which boasts an opaque purple color along with a sweet nose of melted licorice, intermixed with blackberry jam, white flowers, pepper, and a hint of toast.it offers layers of gorgeous fruit, voluptuousness, density, great purity, and a finish that lasts nearly 40 seconds. This stunning Shiraz (750 cases) typifies what can be produced at the pinnacle of winemaking in the Barossa Valley".
(94 Points).
