Description

In 1999 the Chaves felt that every cuvee was so stunning,there was no justification for doing a special Cuvee Catherin,which they did produce in 1998,1995,1991,and 1990.A brilliant effort,the dense,purple-colored 1999 Chave Hermitage exhibits fabulous texture,purity,and sweetness with a finish which lasts nearly a minute.There is high tannin,remarkably rich,concentrated extract,and telltale Hermitage characteristics (blackberry,cassis),minerals,and spice.Representing the essence of Syrah,it is the greatest vintage that Chave has produced since 1990.While it requires 7-10 years of cellaring,it will last 4-5 decades.
